Elephant Goes to Parliament

STOP HS2 will be taking their 10 foot high inflatable white elephant to parliament today (13 th September) as both the Secretary of State for Transport Philip Hammond and the staff of HS2 Ltd give evidence to the Transport Select Committee inquiry of HS2, the proposed new high speed rail link.

The Great White Elephant will be at Old Palace Yard next to College Green at 1pm for ten minutes and then again at around 4.30/5pm (timings dependent on when the TSC finishes)

Stop HS2 Campaign Coordinator Joe Rukin said: “HS2 has got disaster written all over it, it is a colossal white elephant and it will make the millennium dome look like a duck house. The costs will skyrocket, it’s a terrible solution environmentally and the benefits simply aren’t there. There is no business case for HS2, no environmental case for HS2 and there is clearly no money to pay for HS2, it must be scrapped.”

Below is an artist's impression of what it will look like although the elephant will be white not brown and may be a bit smaller. Also it may not be on the roof of the building and the building may be bigger.
