Southern councils are paying to keep the North poorer

Graham Evans, Conservative MP for Weaver Vale, has had another go at the anti-HS2 lobby.

Mr Evans, who recently referred, in the House, to those against the project as 'nimbys' has attacked the use of council funds to aid the stop HS2 fight referring to it as " a disgraceful misuse of public money”.

Graham has built up a dossier of the controversial spending and forwarded it to the Audit Commission which monitors public spending.

Mr Evans used Freedom of Information requests to find out the top spenders on anti HS2:

·                                 Buckinghamshire County Council £500,000

·                                 Hillingdon Council £200,000

·                                 Chiltern Council £125,000

Commenting on the issue he said: “My constituents need jobs and growth above all else. They are deeply disturbed that southern councils are paying to keep the North poorer.”

Mr Evans is fighting for his constituents and is not afraid to come out all guns blazing.
